JKS Open 8th November 2008

The LKA had an excellent day at the JKS Open held in Nottingham on 8th November. We took only our adults Squad along with 2 children. Our entry was based around practicing for Kumite with only one of our competitors entering Kata. It was a very successful day with us winning all but two of the events we entered.

Jordon Probst excelled himself yet again by becoming Grand Champion, winning both Kata and Kumite events he had entered.

We also had an excellent result in the Senior Male Kumite event where we took all 3 medal places. David Wright performed very well to take 3rd place, whilst Ryan Tucker out-punched Joe Hart in the final to take the title.

It was almost the same story in the Senior Female Kumite where Ashley Scott won the event with a win over Natasha Balyckyi in the final. They were then joined by Emma Nunn to take the Female Team Kumite title too.





Emma and Mel Finlay took 3rd and 2nd place respectively in the Female Cadets Kumite.

In the Male Team Kumite, we took both 2nd and 3rd places, with both teams performing very well. Tom Little, the 'B' Team Captain, also fought extremely well in the Male Cadet Kumite where he also took the title, beating Nick Smith into 2nd place.



The instructors, Sensei's Heald and Price, were very proud of the standard of the LKA Team today and the very good team spirit that exisited will hopefully be built upon and carried forward to the Europeans and into next year!
