LKA at the KUGB Nationals 2008
The LKA had another day packed with success at the KUGB's number one event of the year, held once again at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham.
Ryan Tucker was the star of the day, taking 2 Gold and 1 Bronze medal and then being awarded the trophy for Best Overall Junior Competitor.
Along with David Wright and Ashley Scott, Ryan took Gold in Team Kata with a superb display of Unsu, very narrowly beating their closest rivals, Sendai Kushiro, into second place. It was a particularly satisfying win as they'd had very little chance to practice beforehand for varying reasons, making the performance all the more impressive.
Ryan also took the Junior Kumite 18-20 Years title with a win over fellow Junior International Jonathan McGorian of Halewood. An excellent win in his first year in this category, he also took his final medal in the Male Team Kumite, where the LKA took Bronze, having lost to the very experienced Sendai Kushiro team that went on to take the title.
Jordon Probst also had a very good day, taking 3rd place medals in both Kata and Kumite in the Childrens events, an excellent all-round performance by this talented young man. Also, very well done to Josie Fishkin, Andrew Lister and Ronan Cain, who all took their first ever medals at the KUGB Nationals.
Finally, Matt Price put on a spectacular demonstration, showing that whilst he may be retired, there's plently of life left in him yet! He was assisted by the LKA stunt co-ordinators, Ryan Tucker amp; Tom Little!
